- Abstract
- Objective: according to the result from computer statistice, the occur rate of elderly depression in Fai Chi kei Health Center is about 0.1% and it is quite different from result of similar strdy in foreign health care unit. It is meaning ful to have a screening of elderly depression in health center for evaluating the actual occur rate. Method: Aquestionnaire was designed base on the Geriatric Depression Scale. The questionnaires were collected from 28-12-1999 to 28-01-2000 before adult care consultation in Fai Chi Kei Health Center. Objects were senior citizen whose age equal or above 65 years old. Result: We collected 275 of questionnaires. 252 of questionnaires were completed. There were 23 cases in minor depression and 12 cases of major depression. Conclusion: The occour rate of elderly depression in Cai Chi Kei Health Center is 13.9%. It is much higher than the result from computer statistics in 1999. The low occcur rate may be induced by many possible reasons. The significance of this research is to evaluate the occur rate of elderly depression in our health care unit, so that the treatment and follow up can be given in time.
