- Abstract
- Abstract : Gestational diabetes mellitus is a medical condition, which brings up the risk for maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. And it is estimated that 3-6% of women during pregnancy will develop GDM. In this review, authors assigned the total number of pregnancy cases during a 5-year period from August 1997 to July 2002 with 12,016 in centro hospitalar conde de Sao Januario, Macao, authors found 153 case of GDM. It revealed a mean prevalence 1.3% of GDM . Among these 153 cases, 146 SMBG were available, 120 only received diet controlling, and 33 received once daily dose insulin therapy. There were 22 cases reaching the target of HbA1C<7.0%, and 16 cases>7.0% on pre-delivery. 103 pregnant women underwent Cesarean Section on delivery, but 21 macrosomia on delivery were noted, premature 7 cases, and no any other fetal abnormalities in this 5-year's review. It also represented a significant equilibrium between the blood sugar control and the risk-reducing outcome over maternal and fetus. Paragraph Headings： 1. Intruduction 2. Study & results 3.
