- Abstract
- Objective: To report experience of TachoComb, a potent substitute for the dura mater used in neurosurgical operation for repairing dural defect, sealing dural closure, reconstructing dura of the sellar bottom in order to prevent cerebrospinal fluid leakage and stop bleeding. Methods: 324patients were divided into the experimental group and the control group, who received neurosurgical operation in Shanghai Hua Shan Hospital From December 1994 to May 1995, according to TCC used or not during the operation. The any case that complicated SCF leak postoperatively is regarded as ineffective; or else, is considered as effective. Results: It was shown that 2 cases were ineffective in the experimental group; 19cases were ineffective in the control group. The incidence of CSF leak complicated postoperatively is significantly higher in the control group than in the experimental group. Conclusions: It is believed that TCC is a higher in the control group than in the experimental group. Conclusions: It is believed that TCC is a multipurpose replacement of dura mater. In combination with other measures, TCC can efficiently prevent CSF leak and stop bleeding. Paragraph Headings: 1. Material and methods 2. Results 3. Discussion Tables: 1.
