This thesis is centred on how Catholicism is represented in Macau-themed poetry of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Through inducting these representations, this thesis aims to examine the imagination of the Chinese literati on Catholicism, further to explore the Chinese attitude towards the catholic religion, and briefly trace the development of the Macau Catholicism in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Consisted of three chapters and a conclusion, this thesis is elaborated through the representations of Catholic personnel and objects in the Macau-themed poetry in the Ming and Qing. The first chapter is on the Catholic architecture the Ming and Qing Macau; the second chapter is on the Catholic personnel who were active in the Ming and Qing Macau; the third chapter is on the activities of Catholicism in the Ming and Qing Macau. The conclusion wraps up the arguments of the three chapters to inspect the imagination of the Chinese literati on Catholicism.

本論文以明清時期澳門詩詞中的天主教描寫為研究核心，其研究目的為通過 整理、歸納明清時期澳門詩詞中的天主教描寫，以了解明清時期中國文人對天主 教的認識，進一步探析當時華人對天主教的態度，並略觀明清時期澳門天主教的 發展。 本論文正文共有三章及結語，分別根據明清時期澳門詩詞對天主教人物及事 物的描寫進行論述。第一章論述明清時期的澳門天主教建築；第二章論述明清時 期於澳門活動的天主教人物；第三章論述明清時期的澳門天主教活動。最後的結 語通過結合以上三章的論述，探析明清時期中國文人對天主教的認識。
