This case study is focused on the reform of the Visual Art Educationa in college programme as well as its situation. By analyzing the effectiveness of the programme, the problems and difficulties met when setting up the programme, this study is supported to become the reference for the reform and setting up the Visual Art Education programme in the future. The research framework is based on the interviews of the professors, students from the selected college and graduated residents who are now teaching in primary and secondary schools in Macau, in order to understand their views on setting up the higher visual art education programme. In this study, with a total of 16 interviews, includes 4 professors, 6 serving school teachers and six students. Every interview is for about 1-2 hours, taken from July to December in 2015. The result of this study shows that the setting up of the Higher Visual Art Education Programme is a good idea, which may also have significant contributions to the improvement of art teaching in Macau. Moreover, the setting up of the programme can meet the needs of society, government, policies, laws and regulations, etc. In the past several years, this art education programme had been reformed for many times. However, due to the rapid social changes, the function of Non-tertiary schools has changed, which results in the change of the curriculum composition in primary and secondary schools. And the trend of the Inclusive Education has also made some new III challenges on the setting up of the programme. For example, lack of special education subjects and failure to react to the actual needs of art education in primary and secondary schools. It all shows that there is still a great space for Art Education programmes in college to be adjusted and reformed.
