For the purpose of making a better understanding of the serial killers in Chinese context, present study would explore the origins of Chinese serial killers’ killing. Range from 1990s to 2014, 13 cases(12 male serial killers, 1 female serial killers ) which match the definition of serial killers were collected from the reports of the formal sites, official newspapers. With the help of Nvivo, the cases study and content analysis would also be applied in this study. In this thesis, based on some western criminal theories and scales, I came out a new theoretical assumption which aims to explain the origins of serial killers in mainland China and also examined whether some western criminal theories, scale, models could use to explain the subjects’ killing behaviors. The findings displayed in the theoretical assumption the subjects’ motivations and some criteria related to the psychopath, antisocial personality are the important factors in explaining the subjects’ killing behaviors.
