As a worldwide problem, with both family and social attributes, marital violence has a long established history in human society. This issue has attracted the wide attention of Chinese society because of its serious consequences. Firstly, I gave a definition and classification of marital violence after comparing Chinese and foreign research. This thesis aims to conduct an intensive study of physical violence occurring between intimate partners with the literature review research method. Secondly, four features and three kinds of factors in Chinese society (e.g. historical and cultural factors, social factors, and personal factors) are mainly discussed in the next two sections. The current policies and strategies of national intervention, social work, and legislation are also reviewed, as well as their consequences. Finally, some theoretical, methodological, and policy implications are further studied as well as the prevention and control work of marital violence. Specifically, the proposed theories and the three-level special prevention system are applied in social work. The methodological implications are discussed from both the statistical perspective and the angle of content. In response to the release of the proposed anti-domestic violence draft legislation, implications of the legislation are put forward in the final section. Implications such as the innovation of the rules of evidence or the shifting the burden of proof, the V public interest litigation system, and the improvement of law enforcement are considered.
