Title

Feminist analysis on humanitarian intervention : review, assessment and exploration

English Abstract

This thesis focuses on making a review and exploration to the issue of humanitarian intervention from the perspective of feminism. This thesis aims at showing the value and uniqueness of feminist approach in the field of international relations through explaining the differences on theoretical frameworks between positivisms and post-positivist theories as well as how they access to the issue of humanitarian intervention. This thesis also argues that current feminist analysis on this issue is deficient and it is a necessity to lead more specific research about the existing incidents of humanitarian intervention in the contemporary global politics from the approach of feminism to acquire more detailed and deep feminist perception toward humanitarian intervention. To achieve this goal, a case study on the 2011 coalition intervention in Libya is made to explore this event can be analyzed from the feminist approach, and through this case study, I argue that women's rights cannot be guaranteed during and after the intervention in Libya and this is due to the operation of masculine psychology in the current transnational actions which can be detected the behavior pattern that international forces choose for humanitarian intervention.
