Title

Trust and the foreign relations of the People's Republic of China

English Abstract

Trust is a concept with wide coverage, from classically a rational calculation of probability under uncertainty to the cognition of familiarity and confident towards a relation. This thesis will link the foreign relations of the People's Republic of China(PRC) with the concepts of trust, and it will analyze the different conceptualization of trust, notably analyzing the sources and understandings of trust between states. By reviewing and studying the significant foreign policies of the PRC and bilateral relations between the PRC and certain states since her establishment, including Sino-Soviet Relations and foreign aid policies to the Third World, the relations with Japan and the US during the 1970s to 1980s, the end of Cold War and rise of China on the foreign policies of the PRc, The thesis aims to provide a comprehensive description on the mechanism of trust and the rationale of foreign policy of the PRC in order to find out the reasons behind the current obstacles that the PRC is facing in international relations.
