Title

European Union integration model : "follow me" model for ASEAN?

English Abstract

Abstract The task in what we're about to embark has the specific objective of understanding whether the European Union model of integration has, or may have, any influence elsewhere in the world. In our case, this possible influence is going to be tested in ASEAN, with particular attention to the evolution of the organization over the years and the stated goals to be attained in the future. To this end, our research aims at painting a general picture of the two organizations, in order to compare the influence one may have on the other. Since many of the issues to be studied are only going to be subject to a superficial analysis, the general idea is to provide clues for the hypothetic readers in order to further deepen any specific area that is of their particular interest. To attain our goal, particular importance is going to be given not only to scholarly researches, but also to political statements and media news. In these particular fields, Internet sources prove to be of invaluable importance and are thus going to be used often. The official websites of the two organizations constitute an excellent example of what's been said and are thus going to be referred to regularly. In sum, the general idea is to test the influence of the European Union model of integration in ASEAN, or, as it has been commented in some fora, if ASEAN will become Asia's EU with special emphasis on the juridical and political perspectives.
