Introduction Macau has transformed itself from a manufacturing economy into a service-orientated economy. Tourism contributes around 40% of Macau's GDP. Macau's Tourism Industry is the greatest supporting pole of Macau, the speed of its development related to the whole economy of Macau. Macau has been regarded as the "Monte Carlo of the Orient", attracting a lot of visitors, bringing remarkable income and revenue from tourism which is one of the major ingredients of the Government revenue. In 1997 and 1998, as the Asian Financial Crisis and the triad incidents of Macau have made bad impact on Macau's Tourism industry, the amount of visitor arrivals to Macau descended. But in 1999, tourism industry seemed to recover due to the Handover Effect. In order to restore the downward tourism industry and attract more visitors, Macau must sustain the current development of Macau's Tourism Industry and refer to the successful experiences of overseas countries. Besides, the macro economic environment and regional economic environment affecting Macau's economic development must be considered thoroughly in order to select the suitable models and strategies reasonably so as to enable Macau to be the international synthetically tourism center. On 20th December 1999, Macau had been reverted to Mainland China and entered a new era. This historical moment would bring advantage and new chances to the tourism industry.
