BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THE THESIS China is a huge country and it is one of the most rapidly developing countries in the world. From 1992 to 1996, the economic developing rate of the whole country averaged 12.1% every year (China Statistical Year Book, 1997). In the year of 1998, though the financial crisis in Asia gave some influence to the development of China, but according to the prediction from the government, China will still have a development rate of 7.8% in GNP (China Statistical Year Book, 1998). In the last twenty years, in line with the economic development, different kinds of industries in China have been developing very quickly, and the daily living standard of the Chinese population has been also increasing. And because of the attraction of the huge market in China, many famous international companies come to China to look for their distributor, to set up their representative offices or branch companies. They began to develop their business in the Chinese market. For example, in the field of Foods, Pharmaceutics and Cosmetics, many companies came into China, likes Nestle, Coca-Cola, SB, AVON and P&G. In the field of microbiologic market, the same thing happens. As the living standard of the Chinese population has been increasing, the Chinese pay more and more attention to their own health. In hospital, for better diagnosis and better treatment to the patients, the demand for better microbiologic examination technique is much higher than before. In food and cosmetics industry, for better competitive capability, the better microbiologic examination technique is also needed for their product quality control. So the Chinese domestic microbiologic companies begin to pay more and more attention to increase the quality of their products, and pay more and more attention to promote their products actively, And in the other hand, some foreign microbiologic companies begin to look for their distributor, or to set up their own office, then to develop their business in China. For example, bioMerieux, one France microbiologic company, came into China in 1984. But in the other hand, as microbiologic market is a market with professional knowledge, and except for bioMerieux, all of the other foreign microbiologic companies just came into China in the last five years. The period that they develop their business in China is still short. And also, though the Chinese microbiologic companies began to pay more and more attention to improve the quality of their products, and began to promote their products actively, but the step is slow. So nowadays, the Chinese microbiologic market is still young. Different company has its own different developing strategy. They have their own advantages and disadvantages in this market, but it is not easy to find out which one developing strategy is the best one in the Chinese microbiologic market nowadays. So, basing on the above reasons, I would like to write this thesis “Some suggestion on developing the Chinese microbiology market”. I would like to find out some suggestion that can help to make up one developing strategy, which is the most suitable for the Chinese microbiologic market. I will write my thesis basing on the following thinking route. 1) Analyze the Chinese microbiologic market. 2) Investigate seven microbiologic companies, including four foreign companies and three Chinese companies. 3) Analyze the market share of the companies, and the advantage and disadvantage of their developing strategies. 4) Find out some suggestions on making up the best developing strategy for the Chinese microbiologic market.
