The objective of this study is to explore the nature of objective and subjective social economic status for secondary students in Macau. The sample consists of 512 secondary one to six students from 12 schools. There are three types of social economic status scales used: conventional objective, non-conventional (possession) objective and subjective social economic status scales. These scales have been used in previously research with different samples. Comparatively speaking, this study has similar distribution with previous research, but with less missing values because of the co-operations from teachers. From this study, the correlations among different types of scales are low, but are high within each scale. This indicates the fundamental different in nature of three types of scales. Conventional objective scales use least number of questions but less reliable. The non-conventional (possession) objective scales are more reliable but have to use many questions. The subjective scales are more convenient and depend only on the subjective feelings of students. However, the subjective scales have the highest correlations with background variables and academic performance of students, and are statistically very significant. 本研究主要目的在於探討澳門中學生的客觀及主觀社經地位的量表，研究樣本來自澳門十二間中學的512名初一至高三學生。探用的社會及經濟地位量表共有三類，分別是:客觀一般傳統社經地位量表、客觀非通用社經地位量表、主觀社經地位量表。這些量表均在過往的研究屮曾經使用。和過往研究比較，本研究的分佈與過往的分別不大，但由於得到被訪學校的任教老師較大的支援，所以缺漏值比其他研究爲少。 由此研究發現，三類量表之問的相關性較低，但每類量表內各量表之問的相關性較高。顯示三類量表本質上有分別。 三種社經地位量表都是量度不同的東西。客觀一般傳統社經地位量表的變項較少，但信度較低，因而適合一些規模小的研究;而客觀非通用社經地位量表信度較高，但所含的變項較多，適合大型研究所探用；主觀社經地位量表是比較方便的量度方法，只須憑個人感覺來回答即可。三種社經地位量表中以主觀社經地位量表與背景資料及學業成績的相關性最大，達到非常顯著相關。 關鍵詞:社會經濟地位、主觀社經地位量度、客觀社經地位量度
