Title

CALL : 2D diagrammatic tool for assisting English phonetics learning

English Abstract

Using Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) program to help students in learning foreign language is a trend worldwide in the recent decades. Based on the principles of CALL, this thesis is to produce a 2D diagrammatic tool for assisting students in learning English phonetics. The computer program, which provides both visual and acoustic samples, enables students to grasp better knowledge in producing a more accurate pronunciation in English phonetics. With the assistance of the designed virtual model, it will be possible for the students to observe more clearly the articulation of the organs inside the mouth and imitate the movement, hence producing a more accurate sound. The overall virtual model used in the program is created with Flash and then implement on the Web platform via Dreamweaver.
