Title

Pluggable repository for Internet-based software engineering environment

English Abstract

Over the past few years, the rapid growth of Internet technology has made many activities changing the way that people worked in general. In the area of Software Engineering Environment and Configuration Management, much research has been made to focus on support of working with geographically distributed development teams and directed at producing meta-CASE environments based on the WWW technology. Meanwhile, component architectures have received much attention, as they promise to enable code-free program development and software plug-and-play, i.e., enabling systems to be assembled much like in the electronics industry today. These make the development of a pluggable software engineering environment(PSEE) possible, and the thesis aims at developing an model to support such environment. To practice the plugging architecture, the study focuses on creating a pluggable repository for distributed software configuration management, providing an access mechanism to manipulate objects. The repository is aiming at plugging together with other plug-compliant components such as editor, browser or other tools.
