Abstract
COVID-19, caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, typically presents with common symptoms such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath. However, there have been reports of COVID-19 affecting the larynx, leading to a condition known as COVID laryngitis. The Omicron variant of COVID-19 is known for its reduced affinity for the lower respiratory tract. Instead, it often manifests with upper respiratory tract symptoms like nasal discharge and sore throat. This study examines the diagnostic role of laryngoscopy in evaluating COVID laryngitis through a case report of a 74-year-old female presenting with symptoms of shortness of breath and sore throat. The patient’s condition was diagnosed through laryngoscopy, and appropriate treatment led to a significant improvement in symptoms, avoiding the need for urgent intubation or tracheostomy.
