- Abstract
- In her tenth novel Home, Morrison describes a journey of a black man Frank to the south to save his sister. It is also a journey of reconciling the traumatic past and redefining his black manhood. This paper studies Frank's manhood through a feminist perspective, trying to uncover the problems it may lead to if a black man internalizes the white hegemonic masculinity, and to show the process of reconstructing a black manhood, or feminist masculinity which emphasizes feminist characteristics like nonviolent, supportive, and productive. It argues that the black manhood can only be achieved when black men and women are in cooperative and harmonious relation. Paragraph Headings: 1. Introduction 2. Feminist masculinity 3.
