Abstract
Abstract : This paper focuses on the author's reflective commentary on her translation of a Chinese short story Xin Jing( Heart Sutra) by Eileen Chang. The source text (hereinafter referred to as ST) depicts an ambiguous relationship between a father and his daughter. The translation is generally targeted at the English-speaking audience. The self-reflection section analyses the lexical choice (diction) of translating the expressions relevant to the subtle father-daughter relationship. The overall translation approach is basically literal translation decision making, in other words the lexical choice solutions, contain the translator's considerations of different aspects in relation to the context. The translation decision making process and the translation product will hopefully provide valuable data and have wider implications of future translation studies. Paragraph Headings: 1.
