Abstract
Abstract : Conservation is a fundamental aspect of heritage management, especially management of world heritages, which bear unique and universal values for mankind. People in local communities play a vital role in such initiatives, so it is meaningful to learn their attitudes towards world heritages and their motivation to conserve them. This current empirical study selected Macau, where a world heritage is situated, as the study area, and mainly performed a quantitative questionnaire survey on local university students. The principal component analysis identified three factors which can represent the responding students' value perception of the world heritage, namely, cultural value, social value and economic value, based on which, the cluster analysis categorized the students into three types, namely, cultural type, economic type and negative type. According to the findings, local students demonstrate high-level perception of the values of their own world heritage, with certain degree of disparity, in contrast, room still exists for improvement with regard to awareness of threats it is faced with and willingness to protect it, which are only at a modest level. Finally, efforts to enhance heritage education were called for and other recommendations of managerial implications were also proposed accordingly. Paragraph Headings: 1. Introdution 2.
