Abstract
Abstract : Traditional strategic management theories such as adaptation theory emphasize that there are significantly positive connections with successful change and organizational survival as well as development. The goals of this study were to discuss whether organizations always gain benefit from change, identify what major factors organizations should take into account if they need change, and clarify what are the relationships between organizational change and survival. Based on the perspective of structural inertia which lays a core role of organizaitonal ecology, we illustrated that organizations could not change rapidly relative to benefit process for that change was harmful to internal routine. We also highlighted the interaction of structural inertia and innovation ability on organizational change. Furthermore, we employed the dual mechanism to indicate why organizational survival was influenced by change. Finally, organizational change theory from traditional perspective was compared to the developed theory in this study. Paragraph Headings: 1. Introduction 2.
