- Abstract
- Abstract : We propose and test (1) the antecedent (employee-organization exchange, EOX) and outcome variables (responsibility to the organization and employee voice) of employee insider status, (2) chain mediating effects in the relationship between EOX and employee voice, and (3) moderating role of EOX in the mediation. Data were collected from 342 subordinates and their 200 supervisors in service firms in China. We find that (1) EOX had an indirect effect on employee voice via chain relational mediators of insider status on employee voice via reponsibility to the organization. The finding suggests that organizations should develop a high-quality social-exchange relationship with their employees, which could engender their insider status and further evoke their sense of responsibility, thereby enhancing their voice for organizational change.
