- Abstract
- Abstract : This study tests the mutual influence between social network site (SNS) use and perceived social capital by using data collected from a sample of 998 loyal SNSs users in China. Results first confirm previous findings, suggesting SNS use for social and informational purpose increases two types of social capital while SNS use for entertainment and recreational purpose decreases bonding social capital. More importantly, this study assumes that how people perceive their social ties will cause their SNS use. Results of structural equation modeling demonstrate satisfactory fit indices, supporting the role of perceived weak ties in predicting SNS use.
