- Abstract
- Objective: To evaluate the diabetic control in Macao health centers with the targets of laboratory examination from 2005 Asian-Pacific Type 2 Diabetes policy group. Methods Retrospectively analyzed 600 cases of type 2 diabetic patients following up in Macao health centers from 2005/Jan/1 to 2006/Sept/1 (totally 20 months), whose general demographic data, the latest results of laboratory tests and the kinds of oral hypoglycemic agents were involved. Results Within this period from 2005/Jan/1 to 2006/Sept/1, it was found that 57.40 % (283/493) of patients’ HbA1c, 68.85 % (347/504) of patients’ LDL cholesterol and 76.28% (373/489) of their total cholesterol were over the targets respectively; 45.67 %(274/600) of patients had not been checked urine microalbumin. Totally, 7.5 % (45/600) of all patients did not have any laboratory tests. Conclusion Based on the laboratory targets identified by the Asian-Pacific. Type 2 Diabetes policy group (2005), the laboratory results of these diabetic patients were unsatisfied from 2005/Jan/1 to 2006/Sept/1, because more than half of the patients were over the control targets, as the result, the general practitioners in health centers should pay more effort to control their diabetic patients better.
