Abstract
Abstract : Human eating behaviour is extremely complex and is shaped by many factors, ranging from physiological to cognitive and socio-cultural influences. Although physiological factors have long been regarded as an important determinant in the regulationof food intake, there are always circumstances that people initiate eating in response to social pressures and psychological needs. Furthermore, recent studies have shown that psychological determinants such as emotions are more important than physiological factors when discussing the etiology of diseases related to eating disorders. The present paper will look first at the physiological regulation of food intake, then affect human eating behaviour in order to show that psychological aspects are more important than physiological factors in the regulation of food intake.
