- Abstract
- Objective: Retrospective study on the incidence of PROM before gestation 37 weeks in CHCSJ during 1996-2000, perinatal morbidity and mortality related to gestational age and latency period after conservative treatment. Materials: Collecting the data of 100 patients with PPEOM in the past 5 years who had been hospitalized in Obstetrican Pathology ward and collecting the data of neonates whose mothers had PPROM. Result: There were 28 cases deliveried less than 24hrs, 61 cases>24hrs<=7days, 11cases > 7days. Totally 12 cases of newborns had sepsis, 5 RDS, 1 IVH and 1 NEC. 27.3% of newborns had sepsis in the longest latency period group. There was no postpartum maternal morbidity. Conclusion: Through conservative treatment including steriods, tocolysis, antibiotics and supportive treatment, gestational weeks were postponed and birth weights were increased. However, prolonging the latency period increased neonatal sepsis and other complications. The usage of tocolysis on PPROM for prolonging gestational age needed the evaluation of benefits and side effects so as to terminate pregnancy at the appropriate time. Paragraph Headings： 1.
