- Abstract
- Objective: Study the surgical treatment of esophageal and cardiac in 2019 cases. Method: From Jan, 1978 to May, 2003, 2019 patients of different nationalities in Xinjiang with esophageal or cardiac cancer were surgical treated in our hospital. There are 1350 cases of esophageal cancer and 669 cases with cardiac cancer. 1138 patients of this group are minority nationality accounting for 56.4%. Result: The resection rate of this 2019 cases was 90.3% (1824/2019). This rate of esophageal cancer and cardiac cancer were 92.3% and 86.9%, repectively. Morbidity rate of this group was 8.6% (174) and 34 cases had anastomotic leakage (1.9%). Operative death in 35 cases and the mortality rate of this group was 1.6%. Conclusion: The incidence rate of these diseases is varied in different nationality in Xinjiang and Kasark is the highest of them. Radical resection or not is closely related to the patient choice and preoperative classification. Improvement of operative technique can reduce the incidence of anastomotic leakage and multi-modality therapy were discussed. Paragraph Headings: 1. Clinical Material 1.1. General Material 1.2.
